For sale the Seiko 1944-0020, a rare and historically significant timepiece from 1970 that houses a true engineering marvel.
The watch features a petite 27.5mm stainless steel case. The dial displays a beautiful white linen texture that remains immaculately clean with no signs of aging beneath a clear crystal. Turning the watch over reveals a gold medallion (coin) set into the caseback, a premium hallmark typically reserved for Seiko's highest-tier vintage chronometers.
Powered by the Seiko Caliber 1944 manual-winding movement, this watch represents an incredible achievement for the era, it was the world's first 36,000 bph (hi-beat) caliber designed specifically for ladies' watches. Scaling down high-frequency mechanics into such a small caliber was a major technical milestone for the brand.
This example from 1970 remains in very good condition. The case has been professionally polished, and the highly sought-after gold coin on the caseback is preserved in good condition. The movement has been recently serviced and is currently running with good accuracy and power reserve.
