Seiko SKX007K2 7S26-0020 Diver Black Dial

The Seiko SKX series made its debut in 1996, featuring the renowned 7S26 movement, which quickly became a fan favorite due to its affordability, robust construction, and diver watch capabilities. With easy servicing, the SKX line garnered widespread popularity and established itself as a standard in affordable diver watches.

One iconic model from this series is the Seiko SKX007, widely considered a great value-for-money dive watch, praised for its solid build quality, excellent lume, comfortable fit, and classic design. It is particularly notable for its smooth bezel action and strong water resistance, all at a relatively affordable price point. The timeless black dial is adorned with Lumibrite hour markers, which emit a warm green glow for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions. The day and date display is located at 3 o'clock, while the off-center screw-down crown at 4 o'clock adds a unique quirk to the model.

Measuring 42mm in diameter with a steel case that is 13.5mm thick, the SKX007 offers wearable proportions and excellent legibility. Despite its thickness, the watch doesn't feel bulky, making it suitable for more active wear. With a 22mm lug width, it pairs well with various strap options, including rubber, NATO, or calf, allowing for versatile styling options.

This particulaR SKX007 purchased in 2017, remains in overall good condition. Clean dial, with light hairline scratches on the crystal, barely visible scratch can be seen on the bezel, and the unpolished case show minor scratches with a small dent on the left side. It comes with its original box and paper, and is currently fitted with an aftermarket oyster bracelet with the Seiko clasp. 

A well-preserved example of Seiko’s most beloved modern diver, the SKX007 remains both a functional tool watch and a cornerstone of any collection.
