Offered here is a 1965 Seiko 6218-8971, a nearly 60-year-old timepiece that remains highly relevant in today’s watch design. The silver sunburst dial features polished applied markers with subtle detailing, encircled by a raised minute chapter ring. A framed date window sits at 3 o’clock, while the full day display, framed for emphasis, is positioned above 6 o’clock. The broad, beveled dauphine hands, finished with a mirror polish, contribute to its refined look. The thin profile case and sculpted angular lugs, ensures a sleek and elegant presence on the wrist.

The 6218 movement boasts 35 jewels, operating at 18,000 bph, with hacking seconds, a quickset date, and a semi-quickset day function, making it one of Seiko’s more advanced movements of its time.

It shows few signs of wear on the unpolished case, with fading on the caseback markings, though the serial number remains clearly visible. The dial is clean, with only a tiny spot near the 10 o’clock marker, while the logos and text remain crisp. The original crystal has light scratches, preserving the vintage character of the piece.
