The Seiko 6206 caliber, introduced in 1965, marked a shift from the earlier Seikomatic caliber 400 movement. It was designed specifically for the Seikomatic range and is notable for its split day-date dial layout.
This Seiko 6206-8130, produced in 1966, features a stainless steel round case with polished sides and brushed front lugs, paired with a silver sunburst dial framed by an inner minute ring, baton indices, and dauphine hands. Its split day-date display is positioned above the six o’clock marker, and as a Japanese Domestic Market model, the day is displayed exclusively in Kanji.
This example remains in overall good condition with only light signs of wear, maintaining both reliable accuracy and power reserve while retaining its charm more than half a century after its creation.
