In the early 1970s, Seiko introduced three distinct quartz watch lines: QT, QR, and QZ. The Seiko QZ 0923-8010, showcased here, is part of the QZ series from 1975, the same year the lineup was launched, marking a significant period in Seiko’s quartz revolution.
Powered by the 0923 quartz movement, this timepiece offers an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month and features a quickset day-date function. What makes it particularly unique is its bilingual day display, which presents the English day of the week in two color variations: blue and black for weekdays and red and black for Sundays, with the colored text appearing in bold font—an uncommon detail in Seiko’s quartz lineup.
This particular piece remains in excellent condition, showing only light signs of wear, likely due to minimal use or long-term storage. The moss green linen-textured dial is beautifully complemented by white stick indices and hands, while the side-faceted crystal enhances its visual depth. The tonneau-shaped case, with edgy lugs, gives the watch a bold character, further accentuated by its original solid-link bracelet, which fits wrists up to 19cm.
The 1975 Seiko QZ 0923-8010 with its rare moss green dial stands as a fine example of Seiko Quartz’s golden era, a time when many variants of the QZ series were priced higher than Grand Seiko models. Today, it remains an affordable yet highly collectible vintage timepiece, offering both historical significance and timeless style for Seiko enthusiasts.
