Seiko Business-A 8306-8020 Silver Sunburst Dial

In the 1960s, Seiko introduced the Business-A line, aimed at young professionals seeking practical and refined timepieces. This Seiko Business-A 8306-8020 from 1967 is a great example, featuring the 8306 movement—an automatic, hand-windable caliber with 30 jewels. It shares the same base as the 8346 movement, differing mainly in jewel count, as shown by the unique stacked engraving of “06” and “46” on the one-piece case back.

The watch carries a silver sunburst dial with baton indices, pencil style hands, and a day-date window at 3 o’clock. With a 35mm case and 42mm lug-to-lug size, it presents a classic mid-century dress watch profile that remains timeless. The 8306 beats at 18,000 BPH and offers a quickset date, with day adjustment achieved by moving the crown between 9 PM and midnight. The movement is in good working condition with serviced movement.

This piece remains in overall well preserved condition. The dial is clean with minor signs of aging on the day display, the hardlex crystal has a few light scratches, and the stainless steel case shows few wears while retaining its original sharp edges. It comes with the original bracelet, which has light surface scratches and fits wrists up to approximately 18.5cm.

This 8306-8020 is a fine representation of Seiko’s technical refinement and aesthetic clarity during the late 1960s, making it a worthy addition to any vintage collection.
