Seiko Scuba Diver's 7002-7001 Black Dial

The Seiko 7002 Diver is an iconic model, known as the predecessor to the famous SKX series. Launched in 1988 and produced until 1996, the 7002 series laid the foundation for Seiko’s modern dive watches. 

The 7002-7001 model is particularly notable for its robust design and practical features. It has a case size similar to the SKX, measuring 42mm in diameter and 44mm lug-to-lug, which provides a substantial presence on the wrist. The watch features a uni-directional bezel, a classic black dial with a 150-meter water resistance rating, and a date-only window that contributes to a clean and balanced dial design. The lollipop second hand, screw-down crown at 4 o'clock, and the tsunami-emblazoned case back are signature elements that add to its appeal.

Despite being a typical 1990s dive watch, which often shows significant wear, this particular 7002-7001 has been well-preserved. The dial is clean, with the lume on the hour markers, bezel pip, and hands still visible after lights go out. The case and crystal are in good condition, showing only minor signs of wear, and the bezel remains in good shape, although the uni-directional rotating mechanism has loosened slightly and is tight in certain directions.

This 7002-7001 from 1993, comes with a replaced original Seiko Diver rubber strap, and the 7002 movement has been recently serviced, making it a desirable collectible item from the Seiko Diver range.
