Seiko Lord Marvel 5740-8000 36000 SGP Champagne Linen Breguet Dial

Seiko caliber 5740C is the first 36,000 A/h hi-beat movement in Japan and the second in the world. It was introduced in 1967 after Girard-Perregaux first developed and introduced it in 1966.

However, instead of placing it in their Grand or King Seiko line, Seiko put its new hi-beat caliber inside the Lord Marvel 5740-8000, the third generation of the Lord Marvel lineup (LM5740).

This Lord Marvel from 1968 is the gold-plated variant with the rare linen dial and Breguet numerical indices. The watch is serviced and running good condition, maintaining its all original head state. The SGP case, although showing signs of wear like few hairline scratches and light discoloration, still maintains the sharp edges of its Taro Tanaka grammar of design and has not been replated. The dial is in great, clear crystal and clean dial condition with clear printed markers and dauphine hands.

The Lord Marvel has a timeless, simple design with no day-date window. The hi-beat movement works with good accuracy and PR, ticks loudly and offers a smooth, seamless sweep of the second hand.

The Seiko Lord Marvel 5740 movement paved the way for the hi-beat Grand Seiko movement, proving Seiko’s innovative spirit and solidifying its reputation as one of the world’s high-precision watchmakers.
