Seiko Dolce 5E31-6070 Gold White Kira-zuri Textured Dial

The Seiko Dolce range made its debut in 1982 on the second page of Seiko’s catalog, moving to the front page in 1983 as the brand’s first dedicated lineup for high-accuracy quartz watches, a position it held until 1989.

A standout example of the line’s refined craftsmanship is the Seiko Dolce 5E31-6070, featuring an elegant gold-toned stainless steel case framing the captivating Kira-zuri dial—an intricate finish later echoed in the US 2018 Grand Seiko Limited Editions (SBGA387, SBGA385, and SBGA384).

Grand Seiko describes the Kira-zuri technique as:
“Inspired by a Japanese painting technique called Kira-zuri, true to its translation ‘sparkling painting,’ the lustrous dial takes on a life of its own. Commonly found in ukiyo-e paintings to create texture in the background of Kabuki actors, the inspired technique adds depth and excitement to the timepiece in movement and light.”

Inside beats the high-accuracy quartz calibre 5E31, with a precision rating of ±20 seconds per year.

This example remains in pristine condition, complete with its original box and papers. It shows no apparent signs of wear, except light scratches on the caseback with a discreet personal engraving.
