For sale the King Seiko 5626-7000, a classic and capable vintage timepiece from 1971 that represents the golden era of Seiko's Suwa factory automatic watches.
The watch features a well-proportioned 36 x 42mm SGP (Seiko Gold Plated) case characterized by its seamless one-piece (monocoque) design. The dial is clean overall, showing only light marks near the 4 o'clock hour marker, and is paired with sharp hands beneath a clear crystal.
Powered by the Seiko Caliber 5626 automatic movement running at a hi-beat 28,800 bph, this watch offers excellent daily reliability. To address a known vulnerability of the 56 series, the day and date quickset mechanism has been thoughtfully upgraded with metal parts to ensure long-term durability and smooth operation.
This example from 1971 remains in good working condition. The gold-plated case shows hairline scratches consistent with light wear but is in overall good condition. Importantly for collectors, the desirable KS gold medallion (coin) on the caseback is well preserved. It is currently fitted with an aftermarket leather strap.
