Seiko 56KS King Seiko 5625-7040 Chronometer Navy Blue Sunburst Dial

An iconic early-1970s King Seiko Chronometer, reference 5625-7040, featuring a beautiful navy sunburst dial that shifts tone elegantly under different lighting. A true example of Seiko’s golden era, combining high-beat performance with sharp Taro Tanaka–inspired case design.

The case measures 35mm in width and 42mm lug-to-lug, offering excellent vintage proportions with strong wrist presence. The stainless steel case remains unpolished, preserving the crisp lines and sharp edges characteristic of the Grammar of Design, a detail increasingly hard to find today.

The dial is in very good vintage condition. There are light, naturally aged faded spots, visible only at certain angles, along with a fine aging line near the edge of the dial by the date window. These are subtle and do not detract from the overall appearance, instead adding honest vintage character. Applied indices, hands, and date window remain clean and well preserved.

Powered by the automatic high-beat Cal. 5625, this watch has a recently serviced movement, running well and ready for daily wear. As a true chronometer-grade King Seiko, it delivers both precision and heritage.

The original gold KS medallion on the caseback is in good condition, with clear detailing. There is a small dent on the right side of the medallion, consistent with careful vintage use.
