Seiko 5 Sports SNZG13K1 Military Black Dial

The modern Seiko 5 has a vast variety of genres of dive, dress, and military with varying dial colors, case finishes, and strap choices for each model. And why is Seiko 5 so popular because of its sturdy, affordable mechanical watches that are frequently priced well below $200. With a horological tradition as rich as many Swiss brands, the value of a Seiko 5 is much greater than its price tag may suggest.

As for the Seiko 5 military-style watch, we have the Seiko 5 SNZG13K1 with a black dial. This model serves as the choice for those preferring mid to large-sized watches, measuring 42mm, in contrast to the SNK series, which measures just 37mm.

The watch dial has a practical design, showing important information in a clear and balanced way. The outer rim has a raised internal bezel with large luminescent markers for hours and smaller non-luminous markers for minutes/seconds. This not only adds depth to the dial but also highlights the time markers effectively.

Towards the center of the dial, there's a prominent 12-hour numerical scale, followed by a 24-hour scale a bit inward. This 24-hour scale is a typical feature in military field watches, adding authenticity and practical touch to the timepiece. Additionally, the dial includes an applied Seiko 5 logo with the word "Sports" below it. At the 6 o'clock position, you'll find the words Automatic, 23 jewels, and 100M.

The hour and minute hands of the SNZG have a fence post style and are entirely luminescent, providing visibility in low light. Only the red pointed tip of the second hand is filled with luminescent material for enhanced readability.

The watch runs on the robust Seiko 7S36 caliber movement and is in excellent condition. It includes an unused steel bracelet and comes complete with the original box and papers.
