As the answered to Seiko Suwa's division famous 6139 automatic chronograph in 1969, the Daini division released with their own 7017 movement. At the time of its release, the 7017 set the record as the thinnest production automatic chronograph in the world.
The 7017 featured a “flyback” function that allowed for the chronograph sweep to be reset without having to first stop the mechanism. the entire 7017 lineup was built solely for the Japanese domestic market.
This 7017-6040 from 1971 features a hard to find “minutes only” dial configuration. It is in pristine condition with matte black dial, striking orange minute track and speedtimer label. It also features a rotating inner bezel with silver and steel grey blocking.
It also has a bilingual JDM English and Kanji day. It comes attached to the original “5 Sports” bracelet that’s a double hinged block design.
the 7017-6040 is keeping good accuracy, PR and the “fly back” chronograph functions operate smoothly with reset to zero.
