Seiko 45KS King Seiko 45-8000 Hi-Beat 36000 Gray Dial

The Seiko 45 movement refers to the family of hi-beat manual-winding calibers produced by Daini Seikosha starting in 1968 for both King Seiko (Cal. 4502A) and Grand Seiko (Cal. 4522A) models. Widely regarded as some of Seiko's finest manual-wind movements, the 45 series beats at an impressive 36,000 vph, a major technical achievement of the era and was made in various configurations, with and without date complications.

Introducing this unique and rare 1969 King Seiko Ref. 45-8000 in gray dial, designed and manufactured by Daini Seikosha’s Kameido factory. It features the distinct cushion-shaped “Zabuton” case with a polished top and beautifully brushed curved edges, giving the watch remarkable depth and presence.

Up close, the understated grey sunburst dial is paired with chunky applied indices along the perimeter. This design choice adds a bold yet refined character to the watch.

At its heart, the watch is powered by the Hi-Beat Cal. 4500A, recently serviced, offering accurate timing and a smooth sweep of the seconds hand. The watch remains in excellent condition with a clean dial, sharp case edges showing only light wear, and minor hairline scratches on the crystal.

Also made in a linen white dial variant, the gray dial example is far rarer, making this piece a truly desirable find for collectors.
