Citizen Auto Dater ADSS 81302-Y Silver Sunburst Dial

In 1961, Citizen introduced its second automatic movement, the Citizen Jet, which utilized a circular geared rotor instead of the conventional center swinging rotor. This movement came in several variants, including a simple three-hands model and the Auto Dater Seven, featuring both date and day functions. The most impressive iteration was the 39 Jewels Super Auto Dater, but production of this particular movement ceased in 1967.

A prime example of a watch featuring the Citizen Jet movement is this Citizen Auto Dater ADSS 81302-Y. This timepiece boasts a solid and finely crafted stainless steel round case with a slim bezel and long lugs. Its dial showcases a silver sunburst color adorned with square diamond-shaped indices, stick-shaped hands, and a unique separate day-date window, with the day positioned below the 12 o'clock mark and the date window at the 3 o'clock mark. Adding to its classic and beautiful dial design is the 7 crown plate logo at the 6 o'clock position, along with the "25 Jewels" and "para 40M water" logos.

The Citizen Jet Auto Dater features a unique quickset date mechanism, activated by pulling the crown two steps and then pushing it back one step while the day quickset is by setting the time back and forth between 24 to 21 o'clock.This watch is in very good condition, boasting a clean dial, case, and original raised crystal. Paired with the Citizen bracelet, it accommodates wrist sizes up to +/- 18.5cm.

As one of the rare vintage models in Citizen's lineup, the Citizen Jet Auto Dater is highly sought after by collectors, especially in such good condition, making it a valuable addition to any collection.
