Seiko Type II 4623-6003 Radiant Brown Linen Textured Dial

The Seiko Type II represents a collection of entry-level dress watches introduced by Seiko during the early era of quartz timepieces in the late seventies. This series boasts a diverse range of case styles and dial designs. Not only are these watches attractive dress pieces with various dial color options, but they also emphasize the texture applied to the dial.

One of the many Seiko Type II series is this Seiko 4623-6003 from 1976. It is considered one of the rare Type II models, featuring an attractive adiant brown linen textured dial. Completing the striking look are the applied raised baton indices and unusual black and white hands with a needle-like white seconds hand. The day-date window, unlike the usual white background, has a black background with white day and date text.

Besides the attractive dial, it has a bold round case design measuring 36mm by 42.5mm. The hidden lug design pairs nicely with the unique bracelet that unlike the usual stainless steel bracelet, this one is made of plastic material combined with steel accents, creating a unique two-tone "H" shape look.

Powered by the 4623 quartz movement introduced in the 1970s, it provides good accuracy and features a day-date function with a quick-set mechanism and a hacking system.

The watch is in very good condition, like new old stock, having been stored away for many years and showing no obvious signs of wear with its full link bracelet that fits up to +/- 20cm wrist size. It also comes complete with its box and tags. The Seiko Type II 4623-6003 is a very good-looking vintage watch that, with its overall design, feels more modern than vintage.
