Seiko first introduced the Sportmatic range in the early 60s as the entry-level range for automatic watches.

The one we introduce here is an early model of the Sportmatic range with the 245 movement, featuring a time-only watch with code J13045. This vintage classic watch from 1963 has a simple round-shaped case, courtesy of its hidden crown positioned at 4 o'clock.

The dial features the printed Seiko Sportmatic brand, as at that time Seiko had not yet applied the Seiko-only logo on all its watch dials. "Water 30 Proof" and italics "Diashock 17 Jewels" are printed above the 6, with the "30" painted in blue, adding color and a unique touch to its simple all-silver dial.

The dial is symmetrical and pleasing to look at thanks to the absence of a day/date window. The applied indices, dauphine hands, and minutes ring add a sporty look to the watch.

The watch is in great condition with a recently serviced movement, a clean dial, and an overall good-condition crystal and case with minimal signs of wear. The case back has a unique dolphin engraving, adding to its vintage value.
