Seiko Sportman 6602-9982 Black Sunburst Dial 62MAS

The Seiko Sportman 6602-9982, circa 1968, is powered by the reliable Caliber 66, introduced in 1960. This hand-winding movement is renowned for its durability, low maintenance, high dependability, and solid accuracy, which still holds true today.

In addition to its robust movement, this specific Sportman 6602-9982 model boasts a dial reminiscent of the iconic Seiko 62Mas diver, featuring lumed hands and indices. Despite being over 50 years old, the lume on the hands and indices still functions very effectively and bright under dim and dark light conditions.

Finding this watch with its original hands can be quite challenging, as they are often used as replacements for the highly sought-after 62Mas.

The watch is in very good condition, with the dial, the most critical component, showing no signs of wear and featuring a fully intact printed logo. There are minimal signs of aging on the inner ring and some hairline scratches on the crystal. The STP (steel-plated) case is in good condition, retaining its sharp edges, with only a small dent on the side of the lug.

This timepiece remains a highly wearable and timeless sports watch, deserving of a status higher than being used as parts for the 62Mas. Its long original bracelet, fitting up to approximately 19cm wrist size, is a rare find and adds to the collector value of this piece.
