Seiko Seikomatic 6206-8100 Weekdater Kanji Day Silver Sunburst Dial

The Seiko 6206 caliber, introduced in 1965, represented an evolution from the earlier Seikomatic Cal. 400. Designed specifically for the Seikomatic line, it is most recognizable for its distinctive split day–date display, a layout that became one of the signature features of the series.

This Seiko 6206-8100, produced in 1966, features a stainless steel round case with a light fluted pattern bezel, polished case sides, and brushed front lugs. It is paired with a silver sunburst dial, highlighted by an inner minute ring, crisp baton indices, and classic dauphine hands. The signature split day–date window sits above the six o’clock marker, and as a Japanese Domestic Market model the day disc displays exclusively in Kanji, a feature highly valued among collectors.

This example remains in good working condition with a serviced movement. The case has been polished while still retaining its original brushed and polished pattern, the crystal has been replaced, and the dial remains clean overall. The dolphin engraving on the caseback is still visible, adding to its appeal.

With its Kanji day wheel, now increasingly hard to find in the vintage market, this Seikomatic 6206-8100 stands out as a collectible and desirable model for vintage Seiko enthusiasts.
