Seiko Quartz V.F.A 3823-7040 White Textured Dial

The Seiko caliber 38 was among the earliest quartz movements developed by Seiko and was exclusively produced for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) between 1971 and 1975. These early quartz models were highly precise and represented the cutting edge of horological technology at the time.

One exceptional example is this 1973 Seiko Quartz V.F.A. (Very Fine Adjusted), reference 3823-7040. Upon release, it carried a premium list price of 139,000 yen, which notably exceeded even the Grand Seiko V.F.A. models, then priced at around 110,000 yen, underscoring its prestige and technical achievement.

This watch features a bold octagonal stainless steel case, housing a refined white sand-textured dial with applied indices and a day-date display. The design is both futuristic and elegant, capturing the spirit of Seiko’s pursuit of precision during the quartz revolution.
