Seiko LM 5606-7000 Lord Matic Silver Sunburst Dial

The Seiko Lord Matic carries a rich history as the successor to the Seikomatic line and a continuation of the legacy established by the first high-beat 36,000 bph Lord Marvel.

The 5606 movement, first produced around 1968, became the foundation for early 1970s King Seiko and Grand Seiko models. It features automatic and manual winding, a beat rate of 21,600 bph, and a day-date quickset function. As a JDM model, it includes a bilingual day display in Kanji and English.

The Lord Matic 5606-7000 showcases Seiko’s "Grammar of Design" through its distinctive gem-style case, reminiscent of today’s Grand Seiko SBGX253. This vintage piece encapsulates the essence of what made King and Grand Seiko models iconic, offering an elegant and refined alternative at a more accessible price.

This particular Seiko Lord Matic 5606-7000 is an early 1968 model with several distinctions from later versions. It features a 1960s serial number and a "WATER PROOF" marking on the case back—Seiko gradually transitioned to "WATER RESISTANT" around 1970 due to legal changes. Additionally, the clasp bears only the Seiko marking, whereas later models included an "LM" engraving. And the absence of the LM logo on the dial gives it a cleaner, more understated aesthetic.

The watch is in overall good condition, with an unpolished case showing few signs of wear but retaining its sharp edges and shape. The dial is still in good condition with light signs of wear near the 2 hour marker, the crystal is clear with few light hairline scratches, the movement has been serviced with the day-date quickset mechanism has been upgraded with metal parts for enhanced durability, and the original bracelet fits a wrist size of 17cm.

This early 1968 Lord Matic 5606-7000 here is less available in the market, a vintage Seiko that offers both timeless design and craftmanship.
