Seiko Dolce 8N41-507A Tank Tungsten Carbide Gold Brushed Dial

Before the widespread use of ceramic and sapphire for scratch resistance in watches, Seiko experimented with tungsten carbide in the 1980s, particularly in their high-end Dolce range and the limited Grand Seiko SBGT009 in 1988.

Tungsten carbide boasts a hardness of 2600Hv, making it harder than sapphire and second only to diamond.

Due to the engineering and machining challenges involved, no tungsten carbide watches are currently produced, rendering the Seiko Dolce tungsten carbide series rare and highly collectible.

This rectangular Dolce houses the 8N41 movement with a hacking system, offering accuracy within +/- 1 second a day or +/- 20 seconds a year. It remains an accurate quartz movement even today.

The Dolce 8N41-507A is an elegant dress watch with a gold-colored double-sided case and a beautiful gold brushed dial, all in pristine condition, accompanied by the original Dolce leather strap and buckle.

With proper care, the crisp case of this watch will remain almost scratch and wear-free for the foreseeable future.
