Seiko Dolce 7321-5990 Tank Tungsten Carbide Gold Dial

Seiko experimented with tungsten carbide in their high-end Dolce range in the 1980s, as well as in the limited Grand Seiko SBGT009 in 1988, before ceramic and sapphire became prevalent as scratch-resistant materials in watches.

Tungsten carbide boasts a remarkable hardness of 2600Hv, making it harder than sapphire and second only to diamond. However, the engineering and machining requirements for tungsten carbide watches are challenging, which is why no such watches are produced today, making the Seiko Dolce tungsten carbide series a rare and valuable collection item.

This Dolce tank watch, circa 1987, features a highly scratch-resistant tungsten carbide case paired with a classy gold dial with an inner gold frame and a unique gold tank bezel with rounded corners, evoking the look of a vintage gold tank. Equipped with the 7321 quartz movement, including a seconds hand, it ensures accurate timekeeping. This classic two-tone case tank design is a beautiful addition to any vintage watch collection.

The watch is in very good condition with no visible signs of wear and comes with the original vintage Seiko box. With proper care, the tungsten carbide case will remain almost scratch and wear-free for the foreseeable future.
