Seiko Advan 7019-7240 Faceted Crystal Purple Sunburst Dial
The Seiko Advan series, introduced in the early 70s, showcased an aspirational and futuristic design ethos for Seiko watches. Featuring its distinctive red sun symbol and Advan word in a futuristic font, this series embraced flashy gradient or two-tone color dials, along with unique stainless steel cases and bracelets, faceted crystals, and more.
An exceptional example of the Seiko Advan's futuristic design is the 1973 7019-7240 model, boasting a vibrant purple sunburst dial. This watch not only captivates with its dial but also showcases diamond-shaped golden indices, futuristic golden hour and minutes hands alongside a white seconds hand, a printed yellow sun with the Advan logo, a unique edged tonneau-shaped case, and a faceted crystal—truly meeting all criteria to draw attention to the wearer.
Powered by the reliable 7019 movement, a Seiko workhorse of its time, this watch operates at 21,600 bph. The quickset date can be adjusted by pulling the crown out one click, while the quickset day is changed by pressing the crown.
In pristine condition, the watch movement has been recently serviced, along with its a clean dial and case. The faceted cut crystal, although polished, still retains its diamond-cut shape, and the original Seiko Advan bracelet is suitable for wrist sizes up to +/- 18cm.
