Seiko 44KS King Seiko 4402-8000 Silver Sunburst Dial
Seiko 44KS King Seiko 4402-8000 Silver Sunburst Dial
The King Seiko 4402-8000 is a later model following the King Seiko 44-9990, featuring a slightly smaller case, slimmer lugs, and a smoother side case than its predecessor. However, it still adheres to the Grammar of Design principles with a mirror-finished stainless steel case, thin bezel, and sharp edges.
This KS 4402-8000 from 1967 features a dial similar to the early King Seiko models: a silver sunburst dial, faceted thin applied indices that double at 12, polished dauphine hands, an applied Seiko logo, and the printed King Seiko mark above the 6 o'clock marker. However, this particular 4402-8000 also includes the lightning bolt logo and a date window.
The watch is in very good condition, featuring an all-original head with a raised acrylic crystal, a signed S W crown, a clean dial, and good condition case with minimal signs of wear such as hairline scratches and a small light dent on the side of the bottom right lug. The gold Seiko medallion on the case back is still in great condition with the protective plastic film still attached to the case back.
The 4402 hand-winding movement rated at 18,000 bph with a quickset date function. It still operates with good accuracy and offers a power reserve of more than 24 hours when fully wound.
